Volunteering in Houston
While in Texas for a Foodservice planning meaning, the Foodservice team had the opportunity to volunteer in the Houston community. The devastation from Hurricane Harvey continues to affect the city and its people, many of whom have been displaced by the natural disaster. Betsy Chase, Otis McAllister’s Central Regional Sales Manager, lives in Houston, and arranged for the team to work at the Montgomery Food Bank for an afternoon. The organization feeds over 35,000 people a month, and is continually providing food to the people of Houston. Otis McAllister employees were more than happy to lend a helping hand and aid the organization’s relief efforts. Working alongside other volunteers, they were able to pack 1,728 meal bags!
Jim Hosteler, Vice President of Foodservice; Mary Lobaugh, Director of Retail Sales; Trang Tran, East Regional Sales Manager; and Betsy Chase even wore matching t-shirts while volunteering. As Jim says, “Not only serving but serving in style!”
